About the Conference
“There’s a list of topics or types of traumas on this screen, I am affected by all. My trauma started as a small child, I can remember back to 3 years old. I’m going on 64 years old now. I’ve never had a time of no trauma. I don’t kow what it’s like to have no stress. I don’t know what it’s like to sleep more than an hour or 2. My body and mind is so twisted in pain and upset I can’t think. It’s early morning as I type this and my body is already so tight in pain… Only a professional could possibly put in order what needs attention.”
“Many, many thanks to you and your team for putting together this amazing conference. I have attended many since 1983 – The Healing Order of St.Luke, the Physician, many seminars; John and Paula Sandford from Elijah House; School of Pastoral Care; Basic and Advanced Inner and Healing Prayer Counselling Training, International Healing Rooms Training… YOUR CONFERENCE RATES AT THE TOP OF THE ONES I HAVE TAKEN PART IN!!! thank you for your wonderful work to bring deep healing to the body of Christ.”
“Hello. I’ve cried through many sessions listening to different therapists. Especially meaningful to understand why I had no words to explain, why I am not the smartest in choice making and how it all works. Many memories came back from my childhood… I am a submissive wife of 30 years to an abusive husband, and I was a faithful Christian, but have zero meaningful relationships…and I cannot connect to any Church. I tried but they don’t understand me and are so superficial… This conference was good. Thank you.”
“Thanks so much!
I’ve had wonderful feedback about the conference.
I sent the link to our pastor of counseling and she was so impressed she bought the set. She said it was worth $85 PER DAY!!!
You did an amazing job and I’m sure many will have found hope and healing.
I’m making good use of the video of my session in my healing program.
Thanks for the privilege of being part of such a great event.”
“The conference itself was very worthwhile, and there was a lot of excellent content. As a counseling school leader, these educational resources are hugely important for my ongoing equipping and learning to continue providing good Biblical training for others. Thank you so much for bringing all this wonderful content to the attention of so many. Thank you for all the work and coordination you put into this event. Please do continue running such events.”
“Right now, I have had a specific trauma which I have dealt with for the most part when I left the toxic relationship three years ago. It’s called Betrayal Trauma and I have read books and been to seminars solely on this topic which were valuable resources for me. I did note who were valuable to me from your program. Thank You for your hard work in putting this together. I know it will be a valuable resource for many. “
“I would have to say, this conference is absolutely phenomenal! Appreciate your hard work, thankful for each of the professional excellent speakers, it’s such a blessing for God’s kingdom work! So proud of you!”
“Thank you so much for providing us this free conference. I’m finding these sessions incredibly helpful and encouraging, they are very insightful for my present ministry.”
“This is the first time I have been aware of this type of conference. I was thinking it would be nice to be able to have the information about this conference to post in church. We sure can use it here – desperate need here for this type of ministry.“
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Trauma, Suffering, Mental Health Conference for?
It is for everybody. After the premiere of the conference many people have come to realize for themselves and others what trauma is and how has it affected their lives in many ways including their physical health, mental, emotional health, relationship with others, as well as their spiritual life. We all have been through some kind of trauma (s) no matter whether it happened to you directly or indirectly, in the past or currently, consequentially we have been impacted by it in one way or another. This conference has been eye opening and inspiring to many including individuals, professionals, leaders, caregivers, ministers, parents, teachers, etc. That’s why we decided to have an encore and extend the free trial from one week to two weeks so that more people will benefit from it.
How long are the sessions?
We are planning an experience with 8 to 9 speakers each day. In order to provide the most value, we are planning for each speaker to focus on their best teaching and deliver that in an impactful 30-60 minute session. Each session will give you wall-to-wall value and you’ll be able to hear from more voices across the faith and mental health community.
Can I watch with my group or team?
Absolutely. We want this event to be instructional, influential, and transformational.
Sharing with your group or team and inviting them to this wonderful conference can be one of the ways to show your care. Some groups or teams are putting it on the big screen in the sanctuary, so there’s ample space for a group of people to watch together. If you’re all remote, encourage every individual to sign-up today for their own registration.
What does “on-demand” mean?

If this is your first time attending this kind of online mega-conference, please have your digital devices such as computer, laptop, iPad, and WiFi ready, also a notebook in hand if you need to jot down some important things that you’ll learn through the conference days.
Since its a trauma, suffering, and mental health related conference, inevitably there will be some topics that might relate to you or people you know, so please take good care of yourself by having enough sleep, drinking plenty of water, pausing when you need rest during the conference day, also reaching out to the FB community group to share your experiences, contacting your therapist if you need to.
Do you provide CEUs or equivalency hours for any certification program?
No, currently we don’t offer a certification program or CEUs for professionals, but we are considering creating one that would likely incorporate both conference sessions and other learning materials, to create a program and accreditation that gives people the knowledge and skills we’d want to impart.
We’re gathering input from people about interest in a trauma, mental health, and personal growth coaching certification program. If we get enough interest, we’ll plan to put that together and let you know once it’s available.

For nearly four decades Dr. Troy Caldwell has been a shepherd of souls. From 1981 through August of 2016, he practiced this shepherding in the Dallas and North Texas area as a psychiatrist. While practicing, he learned much through his role as a psychotherapist and medical healer. In addition, he was privileged to study and ultimately teach the ancient traditions of soul work called Spiritual Direction.
Spiritual Direction is a tradition found in the Christian and other faiths which facilitates a person’s growth as they seek and obtain the experience of God in the inner life. Some think of it as mentoring in the mystical life. Others describe it as soul friending. Dr. Caldwell has studied this for many years through the direction of Anglican, Catholic, and independent spiritual leaders. His formal education in spiritual direction is through the Anglican School of Theology in Dallas. Dr. Caldwell has practiced spiritual direction since 1985. A particular interest of Dr. Caldwell’s is the appreciation of ways Jungian and depth psychology shed light on the spiritual path. In 2015, he published a book addressing this topic titled Adventures in Soulmaking: Stories and Principles of Spiritual Formation and Depth Psychology. It is available on Amazon.com, and portions are found on his website at troycaldwell.com.
Healing of serious post-traumatic stress was a significant portion of Dr. Caldwell’s work as a psychiatrist. Though, spiritual formation is not primarily focused on this, working with traumatic memories can be a part of spiritual healing and growth. Dr. Caldwell is willing to guide a person to the healer by using Inner Healing Prayer or other techniques if that is appropriate and of interest. Explore more of Dr. Caldwell’s work and writing at his website at troycaldwell.com. Or, contact him to discuss spiritual direction at 214-417-4386 or troyrpa@yahoo.com.

With roots in Detroit and the outskirts of Los Angeles, Joe McCrary has always felt a tug to help people and has had a heart that gravitates towards those who struggle. From small groups to youth groups to addiction groups, he’s led and facilitated for the past 15 years, having had the privilege of guiding hundreds of men to follow Jesus more closely and to be better husbands and fathers. Having more recently received his Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling with an emphasis in addiction, he has been working with the Men of Crash for the past two years, first as a 1:1 coach and group facilitator, and more recently, by also providing guidance to all group leaders as the Director of Groups and Guides. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing someone experience the restorative and redemptive power of seeing themselves as God does, to journey with someone who realizes an addiction is a series of actions, not a life-sentence or their identity. Joe’s heart remains the same no matter the audience; to encourage and to bring hope where there seems to be none, to speak authentically and honestly and to remind both those outside the walls of church, and especially those inside, that they are worthy and loved unconditionally by God, no matter what their past or present actions may show. Lies live in the darkness and it’s easy to hide there. Bringing our sins and struggles into the light doesn’t turn God away, but draws him nearer.
Joe currently resides outside of Lansing, MI sharing life with his five favorite people – his dad and four kids who range in age from 9 to 18 yrs. old. In his free time, you’ll find Joe fishing or at the driving range (when it’s not snowing) or enjoying family movie night (if it’s Friday).

“And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry out to him night and day?” Luke 18:7
In 2009 Prisoners of Hope was founded in response to a call from the Lord of 24/7 prayers of justice alongside 24/7 works of justice being established in Kansas City. In Luke 4, Jesus emerged from the place of prayer and fasting with a declaration. His mission statement was Isaiah 61: to set captives free and establish justice and righteousness throughout the earth. The wholehearted lifestyle of prayer and fasting is our response to walking out the first commandment because of our desire for Jesus. Works of justice, the second commandment, will naturally follow. Prisoners of Hope is committed to seeing individuals set free by the power of the Holy Spirit through the process of healing/deliverance prayer and long-term discipleship. We believe healing will come to the body, soul, and spirit!
