About Marie Woods

Marie Woods is a Christian counselor and Mental Health Coach. She is gifted and passionate in her counseling, coaching, teaching, speaking, and caring for others. Marie has spent seven years of extensive and systematic studying and training at Dallas Theological Seminary and earned two master’s degrees in Biblical Counseling, and in Biblical Theology and Christian Education in Women’s Ministry. She is a trained and board-certified Mental Health Coach at Light University through the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). Marie also is a certified facilitator for Prepare-Enrich in marriage counseling and premarital counseling, a trained marriage group facilitator for Marriage Core, and Relate-Strong Couples. Her uniqueness is that her firm belief in Jesus Christ and solid foundation in Bible knowledge has set her heart on a path of pursuing the truth and loving people well.

Marie is bilingual in English and Mandarin. She has counseled women both nationally and internationally. Marie has written Bible study guides and spoken in churches both in the States and overseas. She also speaks for women’s retreats, does workshops on Spiritual Formation, and seminars called Draw Near to God through Christian Contemplative Practice both in seminary and churches. Marie has mentored many international students who are graduate students, PhD students, and visiting scholars at American universities through international student ministry. Her authenticity and heart-felt life testimonies has often blessed and impacted many others through her ministry.”

Growing up in an atheistic culture with a difficult family, Marie lived a life that was filled with traumatic experiences since her childhood. After walking through her own healing journey and gaining victory in trauma recovery, Marie has great compassion toward trauma survivors of all kinds. Her clinical practice in counseling includes working with inpatients who needs intensive care and outpatients in rehab centers, working with immigrants, refugees, and homeless populations who have various acute mental conditions, working with couples who have difficulties in cross-culture marriages, marriage groups in churches, individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, low self-worth, addictions, relational issues, loss and grief, reentry missionaries, etc. Today Marie is a trauma-informed counselor, she likes the holistic integrated approach to counselees whom she believes are all made in the image of God with spirit, soul, and body. She has learned and understood multiple healing modalities from her eastern and western culture backgrounds. She skillfully utilizes different techniques and tools, incorporating different methodologies that are tailored to meet each individual’s needs in counseling for their wellbeing.

As a mental health coach, Marie has been actively advocating for people’s mental health care and soul care. She invites and connects mental health professionals, doctors, church pastors, organization leaders, lay leaders, caregivers, social workers, coaches, ministers to collaborate with each other for mental health care. She conducts online events such as trauma and mental health conference and offers opportunity for people to participate freely. She coaches people who are in different stages of lives to explore and awaken their potentials, promotes growth and achieves new goals. She is developing new programs to train and equip people for better understanding in mental health care for one’s self and others, to provide practical tools for people to use in their daily lives.

Marie likes diversity yet strives for unity, she likes to collaborate with other likeminded professionals in various ways. She is a living example of walking on the earth with a heavenly vision, living a life that is above and purpose driven.

The love of God defines and makes us who we truly are in His Son Jesus Christ.

 

Vision

Mission

  • To provide mental health care in counseling and coaching, to train and coach others how to care for themselves and others from a Christian perspective.
  • To bring understanding and bridge the gap between Christian faith and their mental health care, to emphasize the urgency and importance in mental health care particularly trauma-informed care among believers, care givers, missionaries, and church leaders.
  • To collaborate with other mental health providers, practitioners, healers.
  • My motto is: together we can make a difference!

Goal

  • To provide the opportunity and access for everybody to FREE online events.
  • To de-mystify and de-stigmatize trauma and its hidden impacts.
  • To advocate for mental health care and deal with the aftermath of traumatic event(s).
  • To bring hope to trauma healing that it is treatable, and the help is available. People don’t have to stay stuck.
  • To inform and educate, prepare people for better soul-care.
